At Petal and Play Learning, we are deeply grateful to learn, play, and grow on Beeliar Boodja, the land of the Beeliar people of the Whadjuk Noongar nation.
We respectfully acknowledge the Beeliar people as the Traditional Custodians of this land, and we honour their enduring connection to Country - to the lands, waters, skies, and all living things. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to emerging leaders and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The Beeliar wetlands and bushlands are places of rich cultural and spiritual significance. For tens of thousands of years, the Beeliar people have cared for this Country, walking gently and with deep knowledge of its rhythms and seasons. The name Beeliar means river or water running through, and Boodjar means land or country - reflecting this place’s ancient connection to water and life.
At Petal and Play Learning, we are committed to honouring these connections. We strive to care for this land, to learn from its stories, and to support children to develop their own sense of respect and wonder for Country.
We encourage our families and community to continue learning about the rich history and living culture of Beeliar Boodja.
